Natalia Zakharchenko attended the International Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Conference in Ghent

In December 2023, Natalia Zakharchenko (ESR 11) took part in the International Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Conference titled ‘The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 75: Rethinking and Constructing its Future Together’ at Ghent University. The event was organized by the UGent Human Rights Research Network (HRRN), aiming to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and enhance the societal impact of academic research in cooperation with various stakeholders. Distinguished speakers at the event included Alexander de Croo (Prime-Minister of Belgium), Olivier de Schutter (UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights), Agnès Callamard (Secretary General of Amnesty International), and Adania Shibli (Professor at Birzeit University, West Bank, Palestine).

During the Human Rights and Accountability Panel, Natalia Zakharchenko presented a poster on accountability, discussing her theoretical research on accountability in socio-economic rights with interested conference attendees. The conference featured diverse contributions, such as the theatrical performance by Ukrainian students and multimedia exhibitions by international artists and researchers highlighting human rights challenges and achievements worldwide.
